Making a fan favorite is hard?
Try making its sequel.

The 2017 telemovie Gunting told the story of a young barber Taufik who reopened his father's barbershop Salihin & Sons with the help of government initiatives.

Following its popularity, the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) commissioned a follow-up.

I ended up conceptualizing a 10-episode TV series with my art partner Sebastian Chew. Together with seasoned Malay director M. Raihan Halim, we created a sequel that sees Taufik's reputation being threatened by a feud with a fellow barber. Gunting fans ended up loving our show, phew.
